Meghalaya also known as the abode of the clouds is one of the seven Northeastern states of India. It was established in the year 1972. It is known for it's Biodiversity and Natural Beauty.

1. Chandra Park- Shillong has been the most popular tourist spot and thousands of tourists visits here every year, but Peaceful and cozy places have become very difficult to find and there is a place for you called Chandra Park in Smit village around 25 kilometers away from Shillong which has soothing ambience and a restaurant with very yummy dishes. The natural view along with ponds and pine trees makes it look a Heaven on Earth.
2. Umiam Lake - It is commonly known as Barapani, on the way to Guwahati and Shillong, you will be able to witness it. Orchid Lake has boat riding facilities, and the sunset looks beautiful from there. Spending time here is not worth it.
3. Mawphlang Sacred Forest - It is a wonderful place to walk inside the sacred forest. It's very beautiful and peaceful, you cannot enter the forest without the assistance of a local guide as it is believed that even if you take a stone from there with you, the forest punishes you. Many interesting stories are there about this sacred forest and your local guide can share many such interesting stories.
4. Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures- The Don Bosco Museum provides a very comprehensive overview of the many tribes indigenous to North-East India. But you need to invest almost one complete day for it but trust me, it will be worth your time.
5. Laitlum- Laitlum Canyons is the perfect place to get wide, sweeping, and picturesque views of the state of Meghalaya. The name 'Laitlum Canyons' literally means end of the world or end of hills. It is located about 45 km from the city of Shillong. This is a place where clouds keep playing games with their shape and breeze, it is worth glancing at the sunrise from here. The hills look beautiful.
6. Mawlynnong - Mawlynnong is a village in the East Khasi Hills district of the Meghalaya state in Northeast India. It is notable for its cleanliness and was chosen by Discover India magazine as Asia's cleanest village. At a distance of 3 kms from Mawlynnong Bus Stop, Riwai Living Root Bridge is a natural root bridge situated at Riwai village near Mawlynnong in Meghalaya
7. Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians - The Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians is a cathedral in Shillong, Meghalaya, India. It is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Shillong and serves as the seat of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Shillong. Located in the Laitumkhrah locality in Shillong, the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians has high arches and stained-glass windows. Directly below, carved out of the hill is the Grotto Church. This Cathedral is named after Mary the mother of Jesus Christ. On the flanks of the inside of the Cathedral Church are another set of 14 Stations of the Cross. Made of terracotta in relief, they depict scenes from the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. The inside of the Church also holds several works of church art which portray scenes from Holy Scripture and the life of Saints. On the left facing the main altar is the grave of the first Archbishop of Shillong, Hubert Rosario, SDB., DD. Next to the grave, just in front of the statue of Mary and the Child Jesus, is another altar, where special nine-day devotions are held every month.
8. Janailar Falls - This is one of the new tourist places discovered. It is located on the way to Cherrapunjee (Sohra). The valley is surrounded by the scenic beauty of green hills and crystal water in between. It is said that the poll has been formed naturally from rainwater and that is why is also known as a natural swimming pool. The flora and fauna make it the best natural tourist spot.
People often visit the place for picnic and leisure purpose. Followed by, few kilometers away from the place, there are two more falls named as Mawsawa Falls and Lyngkshiar Falls, respectively.
9. Shnongpdeng - Shnongpdeng is a beautiful place located in the Jaintia hills of Meghalaya where the serene Umngot river flows. This river is so clean that the boats look like they are floating in thin air. This beautiful place has got many adventurous sports to enjoy such as river rafting, boating and has riverside camping along with bonfire.
10. Kyllang Rock - Kyllang Rock is an impressive natural monolith, a giant grey dome that juts out of the pine forests of West Khasi Hills. There is a path which you can climb along with rest stops and summer houses along the way. The view from the top of the rock is spectacular from green woods and quaint villages to mesmerizing sunrises and sunsets if you time your hike accordingly. Lum Kyllang is a geological marvel, an imposing rock formation that is about a thousand feet wide at its most prominent girth. Another attraction here is the presence of rare white rhododendrons scattered across the depressions and bushes at the base of the dome. Old oaks and various native flora add to the natural diversity of the area.
