Dawki or Dauki is a town in West Jaintia Hills district, Meghalaya, India. It is a town in India –Bangladesh Frontier.

Dawki border crossing is on Dawki-Tamabil is one of the few road border crossings between India and Bangladesh in West Jaintia Hills district in the state of Meghalaya, India, the corresponding post in Bangladesh is Tamabil post. It is used mainly for coal transportation to Bangladesh. Some 500 trucks cross the border every day in peak season.

Dawki is most famous among tourists for the fascinating Umngot River also known as Dawki River, which features water so clear it could be mistaken for a see-through glass.

The major interest here is the annual boat race, which is held during spring on the Umngot River. The enchanting surroundings, silver streams and deep water make it an excellent picnic spot. The place is also famous for its sweet, juicy oranges.

Dawki Bridge is located on the river Dawki near Dawki Customs Check post.  This motorable suspension bridge complete the missing link of National Highway 40, Guwahati-Shillong-Dawki Road.

Jaintia Hills District is on the one side of the river and East Khasi Hills District is on the other side. Dawki Bridge , an engineering feat, was constructed in 1932 by the British as the overland life-line between the provinces of East Bengal and Assam. 

There is no specific time to visit Dawki town. On the contrary, you can visit this place just  about any time of the year. However, the winter season is considered a good time to visit here. The winter season is not too cold, and the lack of rainfall makes it one of the pleasant places to visit in Meghalaya.
